Pinko Moxie Army EP

I saw this band last year while in Maine, they are a local oldschool hardcore punk band and they blew me away. I seriously loved them, this is their first EP, self released, and word is they have an LP on the way, but they never update their site so who knows whats going on. If you like political hardcore that sounds kind of like Minor Threat but faster, check it out. -Aural Assault

(or in the words of Goole Translations: “very convincing, natty DRI style trash but its own, very interesting manuscript. I would say that there are people from Runamucks, but I sure can not, in any case, fans of the old and the DRI. this will not disappoint, I guarantee for this, really cool! red vinyl, appalling diy / shitpunk xerox cover, fuck it, music is Popiči!”) – K.A.Z. re-chords

They didn’t let me down! Nine songs of fast, energetic punk with a sense of humor that is actually good. – MRR

Louder Than Everything LP

The name made me instantly think that this might be a street punk band. Nope. Punk rock thrash that goes for the speed and anger right of the bat. They must really be shaking things up in Maine. This album really has consistent energy and kept my attention with their no holds barred aggression. 15 short and to the point songs that don’ even reach the 2 minute mark. The production is a bit raw but well recorded giving it grit without being sterile. On top of all that, they go for packaging as well. They throw in a sort of manifesto like zine with a CD of this LP, guitar pick, sticker and they even silkscreened the record sleeve. I really like that they put a lot of thought into self releasing this. – Profane Existence

Pinko & The Action Boys have been around for many years but Louder Than Everything is the band’s first 12” release. Nothing sedate or restful here. It’s whomping high energy hardcore punk with agitated, gritted-teeth vocals and a rough and fast oeuvre. Yeah, the drumming loses the beat once in awhile but these guys have such an unaffected feel that it’s impossible not to love it. The packaging is superlative—clear vinyl (one of five colors), a hand-screened inner sleeve, CD version and a “Pinko Moxie Army Field Manual” booklet about their “unconventional warfare tactics and techniques.” This tome not only provides the lyrical matter (along with a guitar pick tucked inside!) but lays out the agenda. The hopped-up-on-Moxie PINKO are into political as well as musical subversion, keeping a wary-yet-winking eye not only oppressive forces but also laying down the punk rock law, demanding the return of the circle pit. Not much to add except, as they say on “Organization Of A Raid Force,” “up the fucking PMA!” Amen, comrades. – Suburban Voice
